S. Henry Cho

S. Henry Cho (born 1934) is a Tae Kwon Do pioneer and instructor with the ranking of 9th Dan.[1][2]

Cho arrived in the United States in 1958 creating many schools across the nation. It is thought that he opened the first permanent tae kwon do school in the United States in 1961.[3] He was the head of the All American Tae Kwon Do/ Karate/ Kung Fu Tournament. This tournament was held for many years at Madison Square Garden, and was attended by notable martial artists, such as Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris.[2] He is the recipient of the Hall of Fame (Man of the Year) by Karate magazine.[2] He is also the author of a number of books including Korean Karate: Free Fighting Techniques.[3] He is a member of the US Tae Kwon Do Grand Master Association.[4]
